Champa- Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has dedicated a railway overbridge to the district’s residents this Saturday. The inauguration of the railway overbridge connecting Champa and Janjgir was conducted virtually. This development relieves the locals as they will no longer have to contend with the inconvenience of railway gates. The Khoksa railway overbridge, an impressive length of 1167 meters, including 117 meters over the railway tracks, is finally open to the public.

The construction of this much-awaited bridge commenced in 2012, with an approved budget of Rs 29 crore. While the Public Works Department (PWD) completed most of the project in 2018, the final 117-meter stretch over the railway tracks was finished in 2023. The completion of the railway overbridge was eagerly anticipated by the residents, who had been awaiting its opening for a considerable period.

The district administration prepared for the inauguration of the Khoksa railway bridge. Additional Collector S P Vaid expressed that the Khoksa railway crossing between Champa and Janjgir had caused significant delays for the public. The construction of the railway overbridge initially commenced a decade ago, had encountered technical obstacles, leading to its temporary suspension. However, with the completion of the overbridge, the public’s wait is finally over. The virtual inauguration ceremony on Saturday will significantly reduce travel time between Champa and Janjgir, benefitting the local population.
