Balasore– As part of the investigation into the triple train accident in Odisha, which resulted in the loss of over 292 lives and left hundreds injured, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reportedly sealed the house of a Junior Engineer identified as Amir Khan in Balasore. Khan, who worked as a Signal Junior Engineer in the Soro section, along with his family members, had been missing since the fatal accident occurred near the Bahanaga railway station on June 2. While no official confirmation exists on this development, media reports suggest that the CBI sealed Khan’s rented house. The CBI team had previously questioned Khan as part of the probe at an undisclosed location.

The death toll from the Balasore train accident reached 292, with a 24-year-old passenger from West Bengal succumbing to injuries at a state-run hospital in Cuttack on June 18. Currently, 45 of the 205 injured individuals admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital are undergoing treatment, with 12 in the ICU and two in critical condition. The tragic incident involved the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Super Fast Express, and a goods train, making it one of India’s worst train accidents.

In the investigation, 81 bodies remain unidentified at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. AIIMS authorities have requested DNA sampling test reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi for at least 15 individuals, as their families eagerly await verification reports. In a public notice, the Indian Railways has urged relatives of the deceased in the Bahanaga train accident to come forward and provide DNA samples to establish their identity and relationship with the victims.
