Amritsar– The Border Security Forces (BSF) successfully thwarted another attempt at drug smuggling from Pakistan to India. They shot down a drone carrying suspected narcotics near Rai village along the International Border in Amritsar, Punjab. This incident comes just days after the recovery of a Pakistani drone in the same area.

Upon detecting an Indian airspace violation by a drone from the Pakistani side on June 10 at around 4 am, the BSF troops immediately sprang into action. They heard a sound indicating something had fallen in a farming field near Rai village and suspected the presence of smuggled items. Upon investigation, they discovered a large packet wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, which upon opening, revealed five packets of heroin weighing approximately 5.5 kg.

The Punjab Frontier’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) suspected the recovered substance was heroin due to its weight. The BSF troops, in coordination with the police force, conducted search operations and found the contraband items. The packaging was similar to the heroin recovered in a previous incident, where a packet wrapped in the yellow adhesive tape was discovered in a farming field near the Reasr Kakkar village in Amritsar.

The swift response and alertness of the BSF troops played a crucial role in tracking down the smuggled narcotics and preventing their entry into the country. This successful operation highlights the security forces’ commitment to curbing drug trafficking activities along the border. The BSF remains vigilant and proactive in its efforts to safeguard the nation’s security and prevent illegal activities.
