RAIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday attended the 85th Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Foundation Day in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district.

“As the home minister, I proudly say it is for the first time that we are celebrating the 85th foundation day of CRPF in Bastar. It is a happy and proud moment for us. While fighting against Maoist insurgency, 763 CRPF men made the ultimate sacrifice and I pay my heartfelt condolences to them and want to tell their family members that our fight against Maoist insurgency is in the last phase…and it’s their courage, bravery and sacrifice which has made this possible. They have risked their lives to take development to the tribals,” Shah said addressing the gathering.

Appreciating efforts by the CRPF, Shah said, “They did not allow us to provide roads, schools, mobile towers, free rice, PDS hospitals and college was out of the question. The work of removing the obstacles to provide all this development was done by CRPF. As home minister of this country, I give full credit to the CRPF’s brave jawans. They also encouraged local police and created a new force”.

“Shah also praised and thanked the 75 CRPF women personnel who embarked on a bike ride on March 9 from Delhi and travelled over 1,800 km to reach Bastar. “I thank you for displaying bravery, which will be a guiding light for many women,” he said.
