BIJAPUR: A woman naxal was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-affected Bijapur district early on Tuesday, the police said.

The encounter between the security perosonnel and the naxals took place around 6.30 am near the Korcholi-Todka forest area in the jurisdiction of Gangaloor police station located towards the Dantewada side of the district.

During the search operation after the encounter, the dead body of a female Naxal cadre in uniform, along with a 12 Bore Rifle was recovered from the spot. All security personnel are safe and further search operation is being carried out in the nearby area,” a police official said.

According to sources, a joint eam comprising officials from District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched an operation after recieving inputs on the presence of PLGA commander Vella and Gangaloor area committee member Dinesh.
