Raipur: Chhattisgarh state has now announced new provisions under the comprehensive Naxal Eradication Policy. The policy has been cleared by the Chhattisgarh Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The state already had a Naxal surrender and rehabilitation policy and provisions for compensation in case of Naxal violence were already in place. This is the first extensively documented policy brought out.

An additional Assistance of Rs. 20 lakh to buy agricultural land to the families of policemen killed during line of action with Naxalites and government jobs on compassionate grounds for kin of the civilian victims of Naxaql violence has been announced. Additionally, an extra aid of Rs 5 lakhs for surrendered Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs. 5 lakh or above has been announced.

This time state’s assembly has taken some historical steps in policy making. Earlier on Friday, the state assembly announced pension for third gender. CM Baghel retweeted a tweet shared by the official account of Congress, “Equality opportunity and rights Congress Government of Chhattisgarh Pension of Rs. 350 per month to third gender, Social Welfare Department invites applications Government of Chhattisgarh, government of trust”.

The state’s new policy has been based on the three-pronged strategy of development, trust, and security. The new policy addressed targets and works under various government department including health, education, and employment.
