New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Millets (Shri Anna) Conference and said that millets can help tackle challenges of food security and food habits. Prime Minister further added that it is a great honor for India that the United Nations has declared 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’.
Speaking at the Global Millets (Shri Anna) Conference in New Delhi today, PM Modi highlighted India’s proposal and its efforts to promote millets internationally. He also asked farm scientists to work towards increasing the share of nutria-cereals in the national food basket.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi tweeted a video of the conference and captioned it as “Addressing the Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference in Delhi. Let us make the ‘International Year of Millets’ an enormous success”.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and his counterparts from six ountries were present at the event. The event also included the video messages from the Heads of the State of Ethiopia and Guyana during the inaugural ceremony.
