The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League will be played between March 4-26 in Mumbai, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said on Monday. He also confirmed that the Women’s Premier League auction will take place on February 13 in Mumbai.

The Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium will host all the matches with the tournament opener expected to be played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians-owned franchise.

The BCCI chief on Twitter announced the combined bid valuation worth INR 4669.99 Cr for the five-team tournament. Five companies that won the bidding war are Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd, India win Sports Pvt. Ltd, Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd, JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd and Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd. The BCCI Secretary also stated that the bids for the Women’s Premier League broke the record of the inaugural IPL in 2008. Apart from three IPL team owners — Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals — Capri Global Holdings (Lucknow) and the Adani Sportsline have bought the five franchises.

Earlier, Viacom 18 bought the media rights for WPL seasons 2023-27 for a cumulative figure of INR 951 crores (i.e., INR 7.09 crores per match).
