RAIPUR: A week after surpassing last year’s paddy procurement record, CG Govt under the paddy procurement program that began on Nov1 has procured 107LMT of paddy at MSP for the first time.

As per the data released by the state govt, 23.35 lakh farmers have sold their paddy at the procurement centers set up for the Kharif marketing Season 2022-23. The officials said Rs 21,937 crore have been paid to farmers under the bank linking arrangement. The volume of paddy procured in Chhattisgarh has surged to 9.8 mt in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22 from about 5.68 MT in 2017-2018. 

During this season as per the data on Jan 27th, more than 32,000 tonnes of paddy was lifted from farmers who registered at the center while over 2,000 tonnes of paddy was lifted from farmers who bought tokens on the Tuhar Haath App. Officials in the know also mentioned that a DO for the lifting of 94LMT of paddy has already been issued under which 87 LMT of paddy has been lifted.

The paddy procurement started on November 1 and will continue till January 31. The Bhupesh Baghel government had set a target to purchase 110 LMT of paddy from the farmers at MSP in the current Kharif marketing season. For the Kharif marketing season 2022-2023, the number of registered farmers for paddy sales reached about 2.5 million, including 0.23 million new farmers.
