MUNGELI: A five-year-old was allegedly raped by a bus driver in Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh, a police official said on Thursday.

The incident reportedly took place on January 17th when the accused walked the child home after she got down from the bus at her designated stop. The accused a 41 year old man was arrested two hours within the parents informed about the incident. The statement of the teachers has also been recorded, however they claimed that they did not know about the incident.

There were three women teachers and other children on board. The accused sexually assaulted the child while dropping her home from the bus halt. The child complained of pain in her private parts and her mother took her to a doctor, who found bleeding in the private parts,” said Mungeli Superintendent of Police Chandramohan Singh.

He has been charged with rape and other offences under the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act provisions.
