Indore: The Governor of Madhya Pradesh; Mangubhai C. Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed President Droupadi Murmu as she landed at the Airport today. The President has arrived to address the Indian diaspora on the occasion of 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas.
Sources reveal that over 3500 delegates from different nations shall attend the event. President Murmu is scheduled to attend a welcoming meeting for Suriname Republic President Chandrika Prasead Santokhi and Guyana Republic President Mod. Irfan Ali.
Pravasi Bhartiya divas is an event to mark the contribution of overseas Indian community towards the development of India. The day marks the return of Mahatama Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on January 9, 1915. It is held once in every two years, however, due to pandemic, it has now been scheduled after 4 years.
Earlier on November 15, President Murmu visited Madhya Pradesh for a two-day visit where she praised the state’s inevitable contribution to the Indian culture and developmental journey.
