UTTARAKHAND: Indian cricket player Rishabh Pant was injured in a car accident on the Delhi-Deharadun highway on the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhalnear while returning home.

He was immediately rushed to to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. Now he has been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh.

As per latest reports, the wicketkeeper-batter who was driving the car himself hit the divider in the wee hours of Friday on the highway at high speed following which his BMW caught fire. He had to break the glass to escape from the explosion.

Initial images of the accident show that Rishabh has sustained injuries on his head, and legs and burn injuries on the back.

“We are all concerned but thankfully he is stable. We at DDCA are keeping a tab and wish him a speedy recovery,” DDCA secretary Siddharth Sahib Singh said in a statement.

Pant was left out of the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka as he was supposed to join NCA for strength and conditioning programme ahead of February’s Border Gavaskar Trophy.He played a big role in India’s two-Test series win against Bangladesh.
