RAIPUR: Amidst the tussle with the Reservation bill, the HC on Wednesday issued an order to follow the admission process as per the older system and proceed with the counseling process of students for pharmacy, engineering, agriculture, and other courses in the state.

The order was passed by the Division bench of Justice Guatam Bhaduri and Justice NK Chandravanshi who were hearing a petition filed by a section of pharmacy students. As per the order issued to the DME, the counseling for 5891 seats in Pharmacy colleges should be concluded by December 31st.

Admissions to all professional courses, recruitments, and examinations for govt posts in the state have come to halt as the Governor is yet to give her assent to the reservation bill passed by the assembly unanimously adopting a voice vote on December 3rd.

As per the bills, Chhattisgarh Public Service (Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes Reservation) Amendment Bill and Chhattisgarh Educational Institutions (Reservation in admission) Amendment Bill— Scheduled Tribes will get quota of 32 per cent, Other Backward Classes 27 per cent, Scheduled Caste 13 per cent, while 4 per cent has been provisioned for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in public employment and admissions in educational institutions.
