Luka Modric’s Croatia defeat morocco 2-1 to finish third in the third-place playoff of the World Cup on Saturday as Mislav Orsic scored the winner with a brilliant bending strike. Morocco bow out with the fourth spot at the 2022 FIFA WC.

Croatia in the seventh minute recorded a super header by Josko Gvardiol which was soon equalized by Achraf Dari, however Orsic sealed victory for 2018 runners-up Croatia. With halftime quick approaching, Croatia took the lead in the 42nd minute via a Mislav Orsiv curling shot from the left that went beyond Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and in off the post as the eventual winner.

Then team after its defeat to Argentina saw major changes like the arrival of Lovro Majer into the midfield in place of Marcelo Brozovic. Hakim Ziyech is captaining Morocco, with Romain Saiss among the substitutes after injury forced him off early in the 2-0 semi-final loss to France.

This is the second time in their World Cup history that Croatia finished third after their 1998 run in France.
