Kerala: An incident surfaced from Kerala exposed the horrific reality of the society. Where on one side, there is PETA, which is doing everything to protect the animals then on the other side of the coin, there are some people who are objectifying animals as they pleases.

Reportedly, A pregnant wild elephant in Kerala’s Silent Valley Forest fell victim to an act of human cruelty, Locals in Kerala allegedly fed a pineapple stuffed with crackers to a pregnant elephant on Wednesday(27th May). The elephant died after the pineapple exploded in its mouth.

After the News sparked on social media of brutal slaying of a 15-year-old pregnant elephant many politicians and other celebrities expressed disgust over the incident and demanded accountability and severe punishment for this heinous crime.

Shashi Tharoor, MP, Thiruvananthapuram, condemned this act of brutality.

Disha Patani, bollywood actress, expressed her grief over this cruel act.

Mohan Krishnan, the forest official who shared the details of the incident on Facebook, was also a part of the team that rescued the elephant. She trusted everyone. When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child, she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months.” said Krishnan.

When we saw her she was standing in the river, with her head dipped in the water. She had a sixth sense that she was going to die. She took the Jalasamadhi in the river in a standing position,” further Krishnan wrote on his facebook account.

“Her jaw was broken and she was unable to eat after she chewed the pineapple and it exploded in her mouth. It is certain that she was offered the pineapple filled with crackers to eliminate her,” Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Surendrakumar told PTI.
