Chhattisgarh: Vishnu Deo Sai, the BJP’s tribal face in Chhattisgarh, has been elected as the new face of Chhattisgarh BJP. Through the discussion with the prominent leaders, the party has concluded Vishnu Deo Sai as the State president. National Party President JP Nadda has issued the order to appoint Vishnu Deo Sai as the new State party President.
In the order issued by Bhartiya Janta Party, it is stated that ” National President of BJP Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Vishnu Dev Sai, former Union Minister, as State President of Chhattisgarh BJP.”
Former MP Sai is considered close aide to the national party as well as former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh. He will be appointed till the next assembly elections. His appointment as the president is considered to be a political move to lure tribal vote_bank. BJP Chhattisgarh has to come up with an idea of new leadership due to backlash faced in the Panchayati and urban body elections.
Sai has earlier also held the post of party president in 2006,2009 and 2013.It was his third term in sense of order. He was MP from the Raigarh constituency from 1999 to 2014. He was also the part of Union Cabinet in Modi 1.0 while after becoming the central minister he resigned from the post of the organization. While being the part of the cabinet he became close to the RSS.
56-year-old Sai, a fourth time MP, represents Raigarh constituency. He was a member of Madhya Pradesh Assembly for two consecutive terms – 1990-98 – before the state was carved out in 2000. He was elected to Lok Sabha in 1999, 2004 and 2009.
The conclusion came to appoint a tribal leader:
The reins of party should be in the hands of Tribal leader this probability was from the start. The logic behind that is that the leader of opposition is an OBC, Also Congress Has given the party Presidency to Schedule tribe. So, the best choice for BJP Chhattisgarh was to appoint a tribal leader to stay ahead of the game.
#A year of Leadership was not Fruitful:
While giving the charge to Vikram Usendi, the lok sabha election showed satisfactory result due to modi wave, but State BJP suffered a major blow in the Panchayati and Urban Body elections. Due to this, BJP was not able to make Mayor or speaker in more than 1 urban body out of 11. Also 7 Zila panchayat presidents out of 27 zila panchayat which pushed the Elites of the state BJP to appoint a new Leader that can handle the reins of BJP Chhattisgarh and have ample amount of experience in handling the current politics of spades.
