Bastar, Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh’s daughter Naina Singh Dhakad, who conquered Mount Everest, has been awarded the Land Adventure Award. Naina received this award from the hands of President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 30. Naina has also been given Rs 15 lakh along with a memento, and certificate. Naina is the first daughter of CG to be conferred with this award. Apart from Naina, Shubham Dhananjay Vanamali has been given Water Adventure and Group Captain Kunwar Bhawani Singh Samyal has been given a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Naina Singh Dhakad is a resident of Ektaguda in Bastar. She has been active in mountaineering for almost 10 years. Naina had created a new record by climbing the world’s highest Mount Everest, which is about 8848.86 meters. Along with this, she also climbed the world’s fourth-highest peak Lhotse which is about 8516 meters. The tricolor was hoisted on both these peaks. Along with this, the message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was also given. This dashing daughter of Chhattisgarh is also known by the name of a ‘mountaineer girl’ today.

Notably, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has announced the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards for the year 2021. Each award is given every year in the field of adventure. It includes four categories namely Land Adventure, Water Adventure, Air Adventure, and Life Time Achievement. The awards are given to encourage and develop the spirit of endurance, risk-taking, teamwork, and prompt efficient action in challenging situations by individuals concerned with the field of adventure.

Naina said that, when she came to know that she have been selected for the award, she was very happy. She also said that there is hidden talent in the young men and women living in areas like Bastar. They are just looking for a golden opportunity. As soon as the information about Naina getting the President’s Award came out, people started queuing up to congratulate her.
