Raipur, Chhattisgarh: The special session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is starting from Thursday. The formal opening of the House has been at 11 am. This two-day special session has been called to pass the reservation bills. Also, a tribute is to be paid to Manoj Mandavi, the former Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha at the beginning of the first day itself.
It is being told that on the first day, the proceedings of the House will begin with the singing of the national anthem and the state song ‘Arpa Pari Ke Dhar’. After that, Speaker of the Assembly Dr. Charandas Mahant will inform about the death of the Deputy Speaker of the House Manoj Mandavi, and former MLA Deepak Patel. After that, verbal tributes are to be paid to the departed leaders from the ruling party and the opposition. It is likely that after that the proceedings of the House will be adjourned for a day.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will present the Chhattisgarh Public Service (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Amendment Bill 2022 on the second day of the special session i.e. on December 2. Along with this, the Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Bill is also to be introduced. The state cabinet had approved the draft of these bills in its meeting held on November 24.
The main opposition party BJP has made preparations to challenge the policies of the government. The ruling party, which has 70 MLAs in the assembly, is confident that these bills will be passed without any hitch.
Talking about the special session, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday that due to the wrong policies of the BJP, all classes were not getting the benefit of reservation. Now a special session has been called for this. In this, the bills of all the tribals, scheduled castes, OBCs and EWS will come. The Chief Minister said, this bill will be passed, and his party has a three-fourth majority in the house.
