NEW DELHI: In a fresh crackdown against the gangster nexus the National Investigation Agency on Tuesday morning launched a search operation at 20 locations across Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.

The raids focused on gangster-smuggler syndicate, the information of which was given by the six gangsters arrested in connection to murder of Punjab singer Sidhu Moosewala. Sources stated the gangsters had reliable contacts in other countries and carried out terror funding in India in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi and the Bawana gang. The probe agency mentioned to have extracted information on the Pakistan-ISI and the gangster nexus on the basis of interrogation of all gangsters arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) so far.

In October, the agency arrested an advocate and a gangster in raids launched across 52 states including New Delhi. So far, the agency has conducted two rounds of raids in the gangster-terror funding case. Earlier, the NIA had raided 102 places. It states that it is trying to deduce how gangsters are being used to carry out anti-national activities.
