Rahul Gandhi continued to criticize Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar for requesting mercy from the British during the freedom struggle, but Congress partner and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray today declared that his party, the Shiv Sena faction he heads, has “immense respect” for Savarkar. “They don’t even think before making such statements; they feel that everything they say is right,” claims V. D. Savarkar’s grandson.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Faction on Friday warned that its partnership with ideologically anti-ethical partner Congress would be reconsidered after Gandhi called Sarvarker-a coward in contrast to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Vallabhbhai Patel.
