Hyderabad: The South film fraternity said a tearful goodbye to their superstar- Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy on Wednesday afternoon. The funeral ceremony saw the attendance of film celebrities, and political supremos besides his fans. 

They visited the Padmalaya Studio in Hyderabad Film Nagar to catch a glimpse of Super Star Krishna, who has done more than 350 films and entertained the audience with his acting in a journey spanning five decades. His last rites were concluded at Hyderabad Mahaprasthan in the afternoon.

His final journey to Mahaprasthan started from the Padmalaya Studio. Along the way, thousands of people and fans who attended him expressed grief and sadness. The whole road was resounding with slogans of ‘Krishna Amar Rahe’. After reaching the Mahaprasthanam, the last rites were performed with the Telangana government’s state honors. Mahesh Babu gave fire to his father’s mortal remains.

Leaving his family, fans, and the Telugu cinema in despair, superstar Krishna left for his heavenly abode on Tuesday morning around four o’clock. His mortal remains were taken from Hyderabad Continental Hospital to Vijaya Nirmala’s residence in Nanakram Guda. After that, it was kept there till today morning for fans to visit.

After the news of Krishna’s death, several politicians expressed their condolences. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Venkaiah Naidu and others spoke to the members of the Krishna family. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and other leaders also expressed their grief by tweeting about the sad demise of the veteran south superstar.

Mahesh babu along with his wife and children were seen mourning the death of his father during the funeral procession. Film shootings in the state have been closed since the news of the Superstar came out on Tuesday. The actor was aged 79 at the time of passing away.
