Bhilai, Chhattisgarh: In a rare incident, a father was seen filing an FIR and registering a case against his own son in relation to the death of his daughter-in-law after she attempted suicide a few months back. The incident is of Bhilai’s Pulgaon Police station area. Annoyed by her husband’s illicit relations with other women and harassment, a woman committed suicide by hanging, three and a half months ago.
It was the woman’s father-in-law who informed about his son’s misdeeds to the police. After this, the police took the statements of the parents of the deceased as well. On the basis of which, the Pulgaon police have filed an FIR against the accused under the section of abetment to suicide.
Police said that Renu Sahu, a resident of Konari village, had committed suicide by hanging herself in her room on July 31. When the Pulgaon police started investigating the matter, her father-in-law Vikram Sahu told the police that his son Gajendra Sahu had illicit relations with other women. When his daughter-in-law objected to this, his son used to beat her. Fed up with this, she committed suicide.
According to the statement by Renu’s parents and other family members, it came to the fore that after returning from work, Gajendra used to show photos of other women on his mobile and tell Renu that he loves those women. When Renu confronted him about having illegal relations with other women, the accused used to beat him up.
Many times he was also given a warning by the village heads to not beat Renu and to put a stop to his illicit relations. But, even after that, the accused did not stop his antics. Fed up with his constant harassment, Renu Sahu committed suicide by hanging herself. Further actions are to be taken against the accused as per the complaint filed against his father.
