Barabanki: As many as three died and four are missing on Tuesday after a boat carrying villagers capsized in the Sumli river, Barabanki district. UP. The three deceased have been identified as children who drowned as the boat turned over.

As per reports, the villagers were on their way to a fair organized on the occasion of Kartika Purnima. It further added that the boat had 24 villagers on board when it overturned and 7 out of them drowned.

As soon as the incident was brought to the notice of the administration, Police officials arrived. Emergency forces were deployed to fish out the bodies out of the river. The majority of them swam to safety and four have been admitted to the community health center, said an official deployed.

District Magistrate has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of the deceased. While the CM expressed grief over the loss and instructed respective officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
