Muzaffarnagar: The Railway protection force, Muzaffarnagar on Thursday is reported to have seized gold worth Rs 50 lakhs from a passengers travelling from Bihar to Delhi.

The gold seized in the form of biscuits weigh around 1kg the officials said. As per primary investigation the accused identified as Mahesh Kumar, who claims to be a resident of West Bengal was caught on board the Awadh Assam Express was caught with the gold biscuits in his socks.

On being interrogated, Kumar revealed that he would smuggle gold from Myanmar and sell it across the country at a profit of ten per cent.

He had boarded the train from Guwahati after fixing a deal in Delhi, said the RPF official.
