Sukma, CG: In a gunfight that took place on Monday morning, a Naxal was killed by the security forces in CGs Sukma district, police said.

The encounter took place in the early hours of Monday in a forest near Bhandarpadar village under the Bhejji police station limits when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said interacting with the reporters.

The firing began during a patrolling operation. “prima facie the deceased cadre has been identified as Madvi Hadma, a divisional committee member (DVC) of Maoists”. A search operation was underway in the nearby areas, he added.

In the last ten days, Naxal encounters have been on the rise. In an encounter in Sukma district, a Naxal carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh was killed near Bindrapani village on July 29 and another ultra was gunned down in the Phulbagdi area
