Maharashtra: Newly elected CM Eknath Shinde on Monday visited the flood-hit area of the Gadchiroli district. Earlier in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister took to his Twitter handle to inform about the CM’s visit to review the flood situation.
Incessant rainfall in the past few days has possessed a major challenge for NDRF teams and State relief operations teams. The Overflow of water in the Godavari river has triggered flood-like situations in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in all these regions from July 9th to July 12th. Gadchiroli district along with 5 other districts have been marked as red alert regions for the next few hours. A total of 27 NDRF teams have been deployed across the state to Cary out evacuation and relief operations.
The Nanded district witnessed another dreadful situation where several bridges submerged under water as heavy rains continue to create problems in the area. A separate NDRF team has been deployed in this region as well.
Meanwhile, CM Shinde also dialled the Hingoli collector and issued evacuation instructions and reviewed the situation in the region.
