Raipur: More than 4 lakh government employees in Chhattisgarh called for strike from Wednesday indefinitely. According to sources in the know the strike has been called on issue of Dearness Allowance. From District Collector to Patwari offices, Municipal Corporations and Universities; are official setups said to remain shut till the said demands are addressed.

Chhattisgarh Employee Federation Convener, Kamal Verma stated that the Central Government Employees are currently entitled to 34% DA as against 22% to the state employees. He further added that the Central Government will raise this 34% by 5% from July 2022 which will eventually be 17% more than what the Chhattisgarh employees are getting at present. The Federation Convener even alleged that since the formation of state, this is the first time that a warning has been issued by both the Directorate and the staff officer on the issue of Dearness Allowance.

Meanwhile, a warning notice was already issued by the employees to their respective official heads stating that they will go on a strike from June 29 if the demands on DA are not met well in time.

However, officials of Indian Services deputed in Chhattisgarh are being paid DA at par to the Central Government Employees.
