Bhopal: A Nishatpura-based man, who lost his brother to Covid-19, was duped of Rs 99,000 on the pretext of getting him financial aid under the Sambal Scheme. Investigation officer SI Devendra Sahu said that Sunil Kumar Lodhi’s brother died of Covid-19 during the second wave.
He told police that in March, a man called him from three different mobile numbers and lured him on the pretext of getting him financial aid of Rs 4 lakh under Sambal Scheme for his brother’s death. He fell in the trap after which the accused made him transfer Rs 98,810 into different accounts on the pretext of various processing charges to receive the aid.
When he did not receive any money and the accused kept on demanding money for various charges, he reported the matter tothe cyber-crime branch on Wednesday.
