Indore: A major development has been achieved by the police probing the fire that broke out in a two-storey building in the Vijay Nagar police station area in Indore, where seven died and nine were injured.

During the preliminary investigation, video footage extracted from the CCTV in the vicinity of the accident spot has raised accusations against an unknown suspect. The video shows a man dressed in white arrives near the building at 2:45 am where he removes petrol from a vehicle and uses it to torch the building.

The police suspect the incident to have been an act of revenge or a conspiracy for which a lookout notice had been generated. Indore Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra confirmed the death of seven people. All injured were immediately shifted to MY Hospital where the Collector Manish Singh reached to take an update on the situation. Attending the victims, Collector Manish said the victims will also be compensated under the section of the RBC. At the same time, Manish Singh said that he will conduct an inquiry into the illegal construction in Swarnabagh Colony.

Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered a probe into it and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next kin of each deceased.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sampat Upadhyay said that Ishwar Singh Sisodia and his wife Neetu Sisodia were among the seven killed in the fire.

Some videos had gone viral on social media showed flames and thick smoke enveloping the building, causing sparks in the electricity cables with people crying and screaming for help before fire tenders reached the scene.
