Jashpur: A nine-year-old girl was gang-raped by her father and his two drunkard friends in the Jashpur district, inside her house. All three were arrested. The minor girl lost her mother a few years ago and was living with her drunkard father and two siblings. Her father would often invite his friends home for drinking.
On the night of April 28th, the accused father reached home late along with his two friends in an inebriated condition. The man woke up his daughter who was sleeping with his younger sister and brother, called her to another room where his two friends gagged her mouth and raped her; the girl said her statement to the police.
After the incident, she quietly went to her room to sleep. In the morning, she mustered the courage to walk down to her grandmother’s house which lived a few kilometres away and narrated her ordeal. The duo decided to go to the police station and report the matter. An FIR was lodged under the Pocso Act, followed by the arrest of three persons including her father.
In another incident, a woman was gang-raped by three persons including two minors when she was returning from a wedding with her husband in the same district. Police have arrested all the accused. The incident took place on the night of April 29th when the couple was returning on a bike and the three accused stalked them for a few kilometres until they reached an isolated location.
