Champa: The Janjgir police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly appearing for a written examination on behalf of his younger brother during Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary School 2 Hindi examinations. Accused Kashidas Manikpuri, who acted as a dummy candidate, appeared to represent his brother Shankardas Manikpuri’s father Rajudas a resident of Sarkhon Thoothipara Ward 20 in the written exam, police said.
During interrogation, the young man told that his younger brother’s health is not well and he was unable to appear for the examination due to which he appeared for the Hindi examination wearing a mask to not disclose his identity. The complainant Principal GP Chaurasia’s eyes fell on the accused through the CC camera, that’s when he had a doubt. Soon when he went near him and inquired about the mask that he was wearing during the examination he replied that he is suffering from a cold and cough that’s why he has been wearing the mask for protection.
Soon the authorities recovered an examination hall ticket that belonged to Shankardas Manikpuri. When the photos of the admit card were matched, there was a difference in that too. But as the photo did not match with Shankardas, they reported the matter to the police. The Janjgir police station was informed, after which a case was registered under sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (Cheating) and 34 (common intention) of IPC and under Chhattisgarh Prevention of Malpractices at School, Board and other Specified Examinations Act, 1982. Kashidas was later arrested.
