Bhopal: A yet another shocking attack on Dalit surfaced in Madhya Pradesh. Reportedly, a 33-year-old Dalit Right to Information activist was allegedly beaten up on February 23rd and coerced to drink urine by seven people.
As per the preliminary investigation, it is learnt that the Dalit was assaulted for requesting information about a village panchayat in Gwalior. The victim before being assaulted was kept in a room and thrashed. He also claimed that the suspect made casteist remarks against him.
According to officials in the know, the victim identified as Shashikant Jatav was referred to AIIMS from a Jayarogya hospital and Medical College as he sustained severe injuries.
Two suspects have been arrested, police said. Additional SP Jayraj Kuber was quoted saying, that the victim complaint of being assaulted for asking information about Barhi Village panchayat under the Panihar Police station area.
A complaint has been filed against the seven under IPC sections for an attempt to murder and kidnapping, as well as provisions of the scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes ( Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The seven accused have been identified as Asha Kaurav, Sanjay Kaurav, Dhamu, Bhura, Gautam, Vivek Sharma, and Sarnam Singh.
