Jaipur: Jaipur to get the world’s third-largest cricket stadium. The foundation stone of the stadium was laid down by State CM Ashok Gehlot and BCCI President virtually. Taking to his Twitter handle, the Rajasthan CM on Saturday appealed to the BCCI Prez and Sec to give priority to the state to host international matches.

“Appealed to BCCI President Mr Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Mr Jay Shah to give priority to Rajasthan to host international matches. Hope keeping cricket lovers from the state in mind, Rajasthan will get to host more international matches,” the statement read.

The stadium would span across 75,000 hectares which would be completed in three years. Rajasthan Cricket Association has been charged with this responsibility, as per an official statement. A stadium each will be built in Jodhpur and Udaipur as well, the statement said. Seven out of the 10 big stadiums in the world are in India, and this new stadium of Rajasthan will be in the third place, it added.

India hosts the world’s largest stadium in terms of capacity in Ahmedabad. Named on our current Prime Minister, this stadium spans across 63 acres of land, it can hold over 132,000 people. Former names of this stadium were Sardar Patel Stadium and Motera Cricket Stadium.
