Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have launched the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections today. Additionally, today is the last day for filing nominations for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections that are spread across seven phases. The scrutiny of nominations shall begin on January 24th and the seats shall go into polls from February 10. Congress is going to the polls with youth and women in focus and has announced that it will reserve 40 per cent of tickets for women in UP.

Earlier Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) confirmed that chief minister Yogi Adityanath will contest the assembly elections from Gorakhpur city. He will be contesting for MLA for the first time, but his rival from Samajwadi Party has not been announced yet. Samajwadi Party has confirmed Akhilesh Yadav will fight from Karhal constituency in Mainpuri district.

Meanwhile, in Goa, BJP has chosen to give Manohar Parrikar’s Panaji seat to Atanasio “Babush” instead of Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar, who has openely asked for the seat. Utpal has been missing from the BJP’s entire list of assembly election candidates in Goa. Till now, BJP has declared 34 candidates for Goa assembly elections that are scheduled for February 14.
