Raipur: A special court in Raipur on Tuesday rejected the bail application of suspended Indian Police Service (IPS) officer GP Singh. Defence lawyer Kamlesh Pandey, fighting for the suspended officer stated that the bail plea was submitted on grounds of inappropriate investigation prior to the filing of an FIR. According to GP Singh, the FIR lodged against him was not as per the protocols. He was produced to the court in Raipur after his police remand ended on Tuesday.

IPS Batch1994 Officer GP Singh was suspended in July 2021, after the ACB and EOW claimed he possessed disproportionate assets. A case under the sections of 13 1 (b), 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was lodged against him.

An ACB statement said documents seized during searches at Singh’s premises suggested that he allegedly amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and indulged in a “massive exchange of money”. Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had raided the officer’s personal residence and 14 other locations based on the complaint filed against him. He also owns numerous properties across the state, which were also raided by the ACB and EOW from July 1 to 3.
