Uttar Pradesh: Hours after the Gautam Budh Nagar Police registered an FIR against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh CM on Monday slammed the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government stating “If you campaign against Rajnath Singh’s son, this will happen”.

Taking to his microblogging site on Monday, Baghel claimed that a total of four people were with him, but seeing them a crowd started showing up, terming it “enthusiasm of the people towards the Congress. “My own security team, the police department of Uttar Pradesh and then dozens of media companions. On top of that, the narrow streets of the village and the enthusiasm of the people towards the Congress. A total of four people were with me, but the crowd started showing up. And If you campaign against Rajnath Ji’s son, this will happen,” the tweet read.

An FIR was registered against, Baghel which claimed he violated COVID norms set by the EC in the state’s underway assembly polls. Reportedly, Chhattisgarh CM held a door-to-door campaign across five districts in and around Noida. Beginning with Bishanpur and Chaura Raghunathpur in the morning, he visited families at Barola and Sorkha villages. He also was seen interacting with individuals at Bahlopur, sources claimed.

After being brought to the notice of the returning District Officer, an FIR was filed under IPC sections 269 (acts spreading disease), 270 (spread of disease), 188 (disobedience of public order) and relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act at Sector 113 police station.

This political bleak comes two days after the Election Commission in its recent revision of pre-poll guidelines had banned political rallies and gathering until 22nd January in the backdrop of an alarming surge in Coronavirus cases across the country.
