Bangalore: An FIR has been registered against Rajeshwari at the KG Police Station, the headmistress of a High in Bangalore for ill-treating Dalit children. A school staff along with the headmistress have been booked under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Juvenile Justice ( Care and Protection of Children) Act. Additionally, charges have been levied under Section 34 of IPC, 323 and 324.
As per the information given in by sources, the headmistress along with a staff of the Tamil Sanga Kamarajar High School, targeted Dalit children making them do demanding jobs. They were threatened to be detained or rusticated on denying to meet the demands. A Dalit student was quoted saying, “When the school reopened, one student spilled a drop of sanitiser on the ground. The peon came and spat on his face and asked what they eat for food. He further said, ‘You are beef eaters, stay away.”
As more stories of discrimination emerged, parents protested outside the school on December 9th. G Madhiarasan, President of Ambedkar Dalit Sangarsh Samithi in Bengaluru City, holds the headmistress responsible for the plight of the students. “ Dalits come here to get an education, but instead, the school administration is making the children do other things such as washing vessels and cleaning the premises. If the students refuse, they get beaten,” was his statement.
