Raipur: On the initiative of the Chhattisgarh government, the millers have started lifting the paddy purchased in the societies. On the 3rd day of paddy procurement, the lifting of paddy from committees has started in many districts including Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Jashpur and Raigarh. After the procurement of paddy started in Chhattisgarh on December 1st, paddy has started accumulating in the societies. Earlier, the government’s emphasis was on procurement only. After this, the work of giving paddy to the millers was done. Last year, due to the accumulation of paddy in the societies, many metric tonnes of paddy kept in the societies got spoiled.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the officials to start the work of lifting along with procurement to prevent jamming of paddy in the committees. Teams of officers are contacting the millers and asking them to shift. Along with this, the Chief Minister has asked senior officers including the Chief Secretary to regularly monitor the arrangements for procurement of paddy.

In the same vein, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reviewed the preparations for custom milling for two consecutive days on November 30th and December 1st in a meeting of officials of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Rice Millers Association and officials of the Food Department. Senior officials including Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain are constantly inspecting the paddy procurement centres and paying attention to the shortcomings. The committee is instructing the managers to ensure that the farmers do not face any problem. Along with this, after discussing with the farmers, listening to their problems, they are solving them.
