SC Chides the Kejriwal Govt; Grants 24 Hours to Chart Measures

New Delhi: The SC hearing the air quality issues at the national capital today, pulled down the Kejriwal govt on measures taken over the last few weeks to cap the crisis. The bench expressed dissatisfaction stating that there has been no documented development in the air quality since the past four weeks.

Lambasting the administrations’ decision of school, the SC said, “ the three-year-olds and four-year-olds are going to schools but adults are working from home”. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi representing the Kejriwal govt responded citing the learning loss in schools that was a concern. However, he also stated that the schools were also open online classes.

In a sharp response, the Chief Justice slamming advocate Singhvi said,” We are giving you 24 hours. If you don’t take an action we will take a strict action tomorrow.” With a window of 24 hours, the SC is scheduled to hear the matter tomorrow at 10 am.

With several areas under ‘severe category’, air quality at the national capital and neighbouring regions has worsened untimely. The AQI on Thursday was recorded at 312 (very poor)while other states in the National Capital region scored above 400(severe).
