Chennai: Heavy rain is expected in parts of Tamil Nadu until Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The severity of the storm is expected to drop after Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Wind convergence would cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in southern districts like Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram, it said, adding that moderate rains will fall in Chennai and other coastal districts.
Rains continued to fall in numerous regions of Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Puducherry, flooding several localities, while some roadways and subways in Chennai were inundated, causing inconvenience and disrupting people’s daily lives. After persistent rains and waterlogging in numerous areas of the district, Chennai declared a vacation for schools and institutions on Monday. Dr Vijayarani, the Chennai District Collector, gave the order.

Over 300 people were accommodated in a suburban school as Stalin distributed flood relief supplies, including vital goods and blankets, and met with officials to discuss the flood situation.
