New Delhi: Minutes after the winter session of the Parliament commenced today the Lok Sabha was adjourned until 12 noon as the oppositions moved an adjournment motion notice to discuss “to direct the government to create a record of farmers who lost their lives during farm laws protest and give compensation to their families”. Several leaders moved a suspension of bussiness notice demanding discussion on ensuring a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price.
Earlier today, the Gandhi heirs backed by MPs of their party protested demanding legal backing for Minimum Support Prices for farmers and financial assistance to the kin of farmers who died in protests.
On Saturday, farmers called off their ‘march to Parliament’, which was initially scheduled for today stating their belief on governemnts promise over repealment of farm laws. ” We are postponing the ‘Parliament march’ for November 29. The government has promised us that the laws will be repealed in Parliament on the 29th,” farmer leader Darshan Pal informed after a Saturday meeting of the umbrella farmers’ body Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).
As many as 36 legislative bills and one Finance Bill are expected to introduced in the 19 sittings of the winter session of the Parliament this year. The Farm Laws Repeal Bill has been listed for introduction and passage in the Lok Sabha on the first day. Clouds sore over investors as the fate of crytpo in India would also be announced. Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021, and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill are also on the list for this session.
