New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the gathering on the occasion of Constitution Day launched a snide attack at the Congress after the Sonia Gandhi-led party and 14 other parties decided to boycott the event at Parliament’s Central Hall on Friday. “More than one person can come from a family to run the party on the basis of merit, but one family running a party for generations is a danger to democracy,” PM Modi said targeting the Gandhis and Congress.
Speaking on the ocassion, PM paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhia and leaders who laid the Constitution of India. “Our Constitution binds our diverse country. It was drafted after many hindrances and united the princely states in the country, he said”.Commemerating the anniversary of the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, PM also paid tribute to the martyrs. Apart from PM, President Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also addressed the gathering.
India has been observing, 26th November as the Constitution Day since 2015 under the vision of PM Modi to give due recognition to the significance of this historic date. This day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
On the eve of Constitution Day, Union Minister for Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju launched an online course on the Indian Constitution at an event at Bhim Auditorium, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), 15, Janpath, New Delhi in collaboration with National Academy of Legal Studies & Research (NALSAR), University of Law. “This course will be an important milestone in spreading the aspirations and ideals of the Constitution thus empowering the citizens of the country by making them aware of the principles enshrined in the Constitution, said Mr Rijiju.”
The online course comprises a series of 15 conceptual videos, by candidates can learn about constitution and leading cases, identify the fundamental policy choices incorporated in the constitution, examine the historical evolution and understand the post-independence constitutional journey.
