Music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja made his billboard debut at Times Square in New York City recently. In a first-of-its-kind move, an advertisement featuring the esteemed composer was stalled at Times Square, New York City. The advertisement comes as a part of the collaboration between Ilaiyaraaja and the music streaming service, Spotify.

The renowned Times Square, displayed banners of the celebrated musician celebrating him as the ‘Raaja of music’. Ilaiyaraaja, hailed as Isaignani has been one of the most celebrated musicians in the Indian film fraternity, took to his facebook sharing his momemts of pride with his fans.

Ilaiyaraaja’s son and music director Karthik Raja called this achievement a ‘stepping stone in his career’. Venkat Prabhu also took to his social media handle to share the picture of the billboard and wrote, “Our own #Isaignani at #timesquare proud us.”

On the work front, Ilaiyaraaja is waiting for the releases of Viduthalai, Maayon, Thupparivaalan 2, Thamilarasan and comedy-drama Kadaisi Vivasayi (The Last Farmer).Ilaiyaraaja is often credited for introducing Western musical sensibilities in the South Indian film musical mainstream.He has composed more than 7,000 songs, provided film scores for more than 1,000 movies and performed in more than 20,000 concerts.
