New Delhi: On Friday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot met with interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi. According to sources, the conversation agenda for both leaders could be different. Pilot is pressing for reform, while Bhupesh Baghel is dealing with an internal schism. As the party’s senior observer in the state, the Chief Minister has been summoned to discuss the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, according to sources.

Baghel, who is also the senior observer for the UP Congress Committee, met with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress national secretary in charge of UP, earlier in the day to discuss the 2022 Assembly elections. The meeting on Friday comes just one day after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met with Sonia Gandhi to discuss a potential cabinet overhaul. The pilot has been called, according to reports, to settle state-related difficulties. On Thursday, Pilot met with KC Venugopal ahead of Gehlot’s meeting with Sonia Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Congress sources report that Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma and Revenue Minister Harish Chaudhary may lose their cabinet positions after being named party in charge of Gujarat and Punjab, respectively. After the cabinet enlargement, long-awaited appointments, particularly those related to the state unit, will be disclosed. “After the extension, the announcement of appointments will also begin,” a Congress leader said.
