Haryana: Accused Nihandg Sardar Sarvajeet will be produced before court in Sonipat today afternoon, Crime Branch informed. After surrendering and taking up the responsibility for the barbaric murder of Lakhbir Sinch on Friday morning, Sarabjit was arrested by the Haryana Police on Friday. Sources also reported that Sarvajeet Singh’s father Kashmir Singh is also detained.
A young man identified as Lakhbir Singh was lynched, hands chopped off and body bearing over 10 wounds caused by a sharp weapon was tied to a barricade was tied at a farmers protest site in Haryana Delhi Singhu border on Friday morning.
According to sources, Lakhbir labour from Cheema had arrived at the farmer’s protest site three days before his murder and had taken shelter in a Nihan Camp near the first stage closest to the Delhi border. On Friday, his body was found hanging near the Singhu border. He was accused of sacrilege of the Nihang Holy Book Sarlobhg Granth by the Nihang committee.Following which he was attacked and tied to the barricade to die.
Soon after the incident came to light, anguish spread across the protest site. Amidst the agitated farmers, the police managed to take over the dead body of Lakhbir for postmortem to the Civil Hospital in Sonipat. An FIR was registered against the surrendered Nihang under sections 302 and 34 of IPC.
