New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced to permit all domestic airlines to operate in full capacity from October 18th against the 85 per cent occupancy that was allowed earlier. The flights earlier were instructed to operate at 72.5 per cent of their pre-COVID domestic flights since August 12 this year. Prior to it from July 5th the occupancy bar was at 65 per cent. . However, the Aviation industry witnessed a marginal rise in travellers by 2-3 per cent in September compared to August.
Earlier, the Ministry had written to all airlines, airport operators and aviation security to ensure compliance with the COVID protocols by all members of the parliament on their journey through aeroplanes. This decision was taken after incidents of negligence were brought to the notice of the ministry.
Indian domestic flights occupancy was capped taking into consideration the COVID-19 protocols. After resuming freight services from May 25 last year, after a hiatus of 2 months, the ministry had resumed services capping the occupancy at 33 per cent of their full capacity.
