Aryan Khan did not get bail for the third time since his arrest a week ago in the drugs-on-cruise case today. After the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) submits its statement to the court, his bail request will be reviewed on Wednesday. The anti-drugs agency had requested that his detention be extended until Friday so that it could file its response. Instead, the NCB was directed to do so by Wednesday morning by the court.
Lawyer Amit Desai, who was arguing Aryan Khan’s case, has asked for his bail application to be heard today. According to the lawyer, no narcotics were discovered on him. “A one-year sentence is the maximum penalty for this offence. 7 days are insufficient for this child”, Mr. Desai had stated previously. However, the NCB stated that its statement would not be ready today.
A magistrate denied Aryan Khan’s most recent request for release, agreeing with the anti-drugs agency that his court lacked jurisdiction to decide. The NCB has stated that releasing Aryan Khan would jeopardise its investigations because he could tamper with evidence and try to sway witnesses. According to the agency, Aryan Khan, along with others arrested in the investigation, needs to be questioned. Satish Maneshinde, Aryan Khan’s lawyer, said in court that no drugs or evidence of a plot had been found on him and that he could not be lumped in with the other defendants.
