Maharashtra has declared a nationwide bandh in support of farmers protesting violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri area, which began on October 3rd. The Maharashtra administration, which constitutes the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party, and the Congress, had called the rally in support of the farmers.
Shiv Sena activists blocked a road in Mumbai’s Chembur area today morning, as well as another in Kolhapur on the Pune-Bengaluru national route. At least 8 buses operated by the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Corporation have been vandalized in Mumbai.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Maharashtra Cabinet issued a resolution expressing condolences for the killings in Lakhimpur Kheri. A sit-in demonstration will be held at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai by Congress leaders, including Maharashtra unit chairman Nana Patole.
