The Uttar Pradesh Police has charged Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and 11 others with disturbing the peace in the state. According to Hargaon Police Station SHO Brijesh Tripathi, a case has been filed under Section 107/16 of the Indian Penal Code against 11 people, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Devindra Hooda, and Ajay Kumar Lallu (IPC).

According to Congress, she was detained yesterday while on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri. Earlier in the day, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra claimed that she had been detained for the past 28 hours without any order or FIR and that the PAC guest house had been turned into a temporary jail for the Congress general secretary. On Sunday, eight people were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) issued a statement on Sunday claiming the death of 4 farmers, alleging that 1 of the 4 farmers was shot dead by Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni’s son, while the others were allegedly run over by vehicles in his convoy. Meanwhile, in response to SKM’s allegations, Teni stated that his son was not present at the scene and that some miscreants merged with protesting farmers and pelted stones on the car, resulting in the ‘unfortunate incident.’
