New Delhi: India reported 18,346 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry, this has been the lowest rise in infection in 209 days. The recovery rate at 97.93 per cent accounted for 29,639 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,31,50,886. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.6 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 36 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 2,52,902  accounting for 0.75 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 11,556 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 263 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,49.260.

Kerala started to record a decline in its daily count after breaching the 300-00 mark post-Onam festival in August. All educational institutions were permitted to re-open and were instructed to abide by the COVID protocols.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 91.54 crores, the Union Health Ministry stated. Nearly, 72.51 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
